Cherene Snow is a Practitioner and motivational speaker who resides in the NYC area. She has a daily morning practice of Reading, Writing and Meditating. “I believe that meditation is just as effective on a bus, train or street, as it is in the privacy of your own home. God is everywhere and prayer/meditation is always an opportunity to have an open dialogue with Spirit.” A veteran actor who began her professional career at 13 with her first film, “Cooley High”, Cherene was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. She grew up in the Baptist church and was baptized there. She received a Theatre degree from Illinois State University. In 1989, Cherene moved to LA to further her career and went in search of a church home immediately. A co-worker invited her to her church, City of Angels, led by the late Rev O.C. Smith. She walked through the lobby and stepped into the threshold of the ballroom, took a deep breath and said, “I’m Home.” New Thought has been her path, joyously, ever since. Cherene found a way to follow her aspirations for motivational speaking by addressing college students after matinee performances of the plays she performed in. Her television credits includes, “Law & Order”, “Third Watch” “The Drew Carey Show”, and “The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno.” She has done such films as, “City of Angels, ”Out of Darkness” and “Sweet Potato Ride.” She won several best actress awards and a best actress theatre nomination from the NAACP. Cherene has been described as “Earth Mother” by some because she has no problem dispensing wisdom, words of encouragement and prayer whenever needed. “Sometimes you are the only Bible some people will ever read so, stay open and be ready to serve.” Cherene moved to New York and added singing, songwriting and poetry to the mix. She is a solo vocalist, with a 3 octave range, as well as, one of the lead vocalists with her own singing group, and a backup vocalist for several independent artists. Cherene also tours other churches as a solo singing artist. She is currently working on her own CD and book of poetry. Cherene teaches creative drama and improvisation for several Arts in Education Organizations in New York, New Jersey and Los Angeles. In 2010 she will tour Canada, London and South Africa as a vocalist.
